Fall is here

A little display of Fall by my side door. I'm excitied about it b/c this year has been my first to put anything out. It helps me feel part of the season, I guess. Fall is just a beautiful time of year, the change of temperture, colorful leaves, bon fires, and the start of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Thinking of all the things to be thankful for.....

There's a little more yellow in the bigger trees now, but this is the start of fall in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. This is a picture of the street we live off of. The weather is in the 50's to 70's and it's just beautiful. One of the reason's that we are here is for the four season's. Only wishing for less of a winter season, but other than that it's perfect. I would love to have two to three months of winter and than go right into spring. I know there are places like that, but my and my husbands families are here, so you can guess what our number one reason is for staying. Famliy is important especially for us now since we started our own. We want him to have grandparents, uncles, and aunts around him while he grows up. I had a few years with my grandma which by the way likes to be called "grammy", she says that grandma sounds to old. She turned 80 last April. :o) The older I get the more I understand how the elderly must feel. Your mind never ages, but your body does.

My son turned 4 months the other day and gave me his first full laugh. He belched and than laughed about it. :o) It was cute, so I had to call up his father to let him know and he said "that's a boy for you". (For laughing at his own burp.) I'm trying to get him to laugh more by tickling him or by blowing on his tummy, but nothing seems to work just quite yet. I get a lot of smiles though, so I know there just around the corner.

I thought having a little one around would cramp my style, but it hasn't been true. They truly become part of you. I can even understand why parents miss their childen now when they're away from them. I don't get that privilege very often and I'm ok with that right now since I'm breastfeeding. Any ideas of how to help young ones to learn to roll over? He's rolled over by himself once (tummy to back). The excitements of being a new mom!

You're just starting to get fall now, and you still want a shorter winter? Can I just be jealous of you for a minute?

I used to stress about having them roll over. Jabin is 10 1/2 months, and still only knows how to roll onto his tummy, not back over to his back. And that's okay with me. Honestly, you think it will be a really great thing when they get mobile, but really, that's when the honeymoon's over--and you are running non-stop after them until they learn some self-discipline and self-control. It's actually better if they are a little older when they start moving around, because they better understand the word "no", which can honestly save you and him a lot of headaches!

Just enjoy it! It really won't be that long until he's rolling over just fine!

Happy Thursday!

Don’t worry it’s getting colder every day here; It snowed already, but didn’t stick. We’re in the 30’s to 50’s (F) now, so need to be jealous. :o) What’s your weather like? I just saw “Click” by Adam Sanders and it was about enjoying the time you have with family now– basically being content in life. There were swear words in the movie which by the way I have no idea why they need them. Over all it was a touching story.

Thanks for the advice. I think I’m more excited to see him grow up than making him grow up fast. (If you know what I mean).

Okay, Candice, I decided to give you some blog fodder to help break your sabbatical. I look forward to seeing the results! ;-)
